The K2 X7 journey continues with a test of patience, precision, and respect for the mountain’s volatile nature. Mingma David Sherpa and the Elite Exped team remain focused, despite challenges with weather, terrain, and fixing efforts.

On June 28, the Elite Exped team successfully fixed ropes up to Camp 1, while Seven Summit Treks (SST) worked up to one anchor below lower Camp 2 (C2). The Elite Exped fixing team later advanced the ropes to upper C2, with tents and oxygen supplies securely dropped for the upcoming phases.
Fixing ropes on K2 is a joint effort by all the teams on the mountain. By July 5, the notable House of Chimney at C2 was fixed, marking essential progress on this technical section. However, the mountain’s condition remained harsh — the season opened late, and the slopes have been dry and exposed to relentless rockfall, causing minor injuries among some climbers by July 10.
Mingma David Sherpa began his acclimatization rotation on July 13, spending three nights at Camp 1, while some guides and members slept two nights at lower C2. The initial forecast had promised clear weather, but reality was different. As the team reached Camp 1, a sudden snowstorm and high winds hit the mountain, forcing the rope-fixing efforts to halt temporarily.

Looking ahead, the forecast from July 18 hinted at a potential weather window. While still uncertain, Mingma David Sherpa remains optimistic and prepared to ascend further when the mountain allows.
Mingma David Sherpa shares:
“The mountain is dry, the rockfalls frequent, and the weather changes in moments. But this is K2 — patience, caution, and respect will always guide us forward.”

As K2 X7 unfolds, the mountain dictates the rhythm — and Mingma David Sherpa stands ready for the next chapter, one step, one window at a time.
